ShowerValve is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and valve work opening a wall is often a permitted alteration — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work, we sell no valves, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call. The maximum water temperature is set by your local code, not by this website.

Dialing the number

You give us the ZIP code and what the shower is doing. We check it against the areas our partner contractors cover and connect you with one who covers yours. If nobody does, we say so on the call.

We do not take details to pass on later and we do not sell them.

Who pays us, and why that matters

The contractors, when we route them a call. You are never charged anything, whether or not any work goes ahead.

Which gives us a reason to want you to call, so here is the counterweight: the most-read page on this site tells you that your valve already has an adjustment that may be the whole answer, and that a shower creeping hotter over five minutes is frequently not a fault at all. Both of those cost us calls and both of them are true.

Not a building department

We are not a contractor. We carry out no work, we sell no valves, no cartridges and no trim, we do not set prices and we supervise nobody. Contractors in our network are independent businesses required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands.

We do not vouch for any individual contractor and no page here says we do.

And we are not your building department

The maximum water temperature is mandated by local code, and only your jurisdiction can tell you what yours is. We repeat what ASSE publishes and stop there, and we do not publish instructions for adjusting a limit stop.
